The dive sites of Amed

Reef, deep reef, muck/macro, wrecks (Japanese & Marina shipwrecks), walls and also driftdives with intensity from 1 to 10 for lovers of big stuff !

JEMELUK WALL

Depth: 3 – 30 meters

Current: 0 – small

This dive site starts with a sandy slope which is very good for critters like seahorse, ghost pipefish, nudibranch, devil scorpion fish, …The presence of some artificial structures in the bay make it very easy to find all this nice small stuff. Then the dive continues with a 30m deep colourful wall covered by dense corals and elephant-ear sponges. Turtles and bigger fish are always around : black snappers, unicornfish, …

Also an excellent night dive.

HOUSE REEF LIPAH BAY

Depth: 5 – 40 meters

Current: 0 – small

Marine life: This is the best dive site of the whole area to spot turtles. In the shallows, it is also common to spot baby sharks sleeping under table corals and hundreds of garden-eels.

Turn right to an amazing shallow coral garden full of table corals and sea fans of stunning colors. This dive site then continues with a slope more exposed to currents with bigger fish.

The northern end of the bay directly in front of our dive center is home to some deep hidden treasures that only WSD is able to show you.

PYRAMIDS

Depth: 3 – 40 meters

Current: small

Marine life: turtles, barracudas, batfish, angel fish, frogfish, and sometimes reef sharks.

First, a beautiful coral garden slopes down to about 20m with many pyramids (artificial reef structures) that are full of macro life.

Then, divers enjoy the fantastic 35m-deep Amed wall.

Entry: by shore but better with a local Jukung boat for a nice drift dive

JAPANESE SHIPWRECK

Depth: 5 – 40 meters

Current: medium

Marine life: Excellent site full of seafans for pygmy seahorses ; orangutan crab, squat lobsters, leaf scorpion fish, …

The Japanese wreck rests at a depth of just 5 m, scuba divers explore it at the end of the dive during a long safety stop : Stunning coral life with soft and leather corals cover the wreck, gorgonians and big sponges with small creatures are waiting for you!

LEAN WALL

Depth: 18 – 40 meters

Current: medium

Lean wall is only 5 minutes away from our dive shop and it is simply amazing : the wall itself is covered by colourful corals and sponges with an incredible density it is a very good dive site to spot pelagics such as sharks, jacks, tunas … We usually face a medium current so this dive site is not for beginners.

Try it with our team because not many dive guides know this wonderful walldive !

BUNUTAN

Depth: 15 – 50 m

Current: medium

The dive starts on a sandy area with thousands of garden-eels.

Then divers will enjoy 1 of the most living reefs in Amed/Tulamben area : fish are everywhere, it is a fish soup ! so many huge barrel sponges and gorgonians.

Big stuff is often around : we regularly meet white tip & black tip sharks, barracudas, …

Huge schools of smaller fish in the blue … Every dive is an amazing drift diving experience. Highly recommended to all divers !

DEEP BLUE / GOLDEN ROCKS / KUSAMBI

Depth: 15 – 30 meters

Current: always strong !

You jump into a coral garden and fly with the fish!
Excellent coral life and big stuff await you here : barracudas, giant trevallies, dog-tooth tunas, sharks…

In those 3 adrenaline dive sites, we always have a fast drift dive !

We only take you there if we are 100 % sure that you can handle the conditions, therefore we need to dive with you before considering this dive site.

MELASTI

Current: 0 – small

Depth: 5 – 15 meters

Marine life: Muck diver’s heaven!

In this macro dive site, there is no coral life : just sand, algae and sponges.

We regularly find Wonderpus and mimic octopus, harlequin shrimp, tiger shrimp, honeycomb morays, Skeleton shrimps, very special nudibranches and much more. Sometimes we have a great time with a green turtle that feeds on the seagrass.

We regularly find long-arm octopus, wonderpus, frogfish, cleaner stations full of Shrimps, ghost pipe fish, mantis shrimp, rare nudibranchs, …
